Beneath a night sky alive with starlight, “Their Stars Still Shine” honors the heroes of
September 11th — ordinary people who, in the darkest of hours, became extraordinary. A
parent and child sit together under the stars, and through story, song, and the simple magic
of a single spotlight rising like a star being born, the child hears the stories of three everyday
heroes who shined their light of love in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
Each hero’s story unfolds as its own constellation — a scene, a song, a moment of courage
rendered simply enough for any stage and any cast size to bring to life. And as the stars
multiply overhead, so does the child’s understanding: hate transformed into love, judgment
into respect, self-interest into empathy. By the musical’s final image — a full sky of light, and
a child looking up with new eyes — the audience realizes the same truth the child does. We
are not just remembering these lights. We are meant to become them.
Warm, reverent, and deeply moving, “Their Stars Still Shine” is designed for intimate
community and educational stages, honoring the sacred weight of its subject while leaving
audiences with hope, unity, and a call to shine their own light, one twinkle at a time.
